Enjoying the Outdoors!

Yesterday we headed outside for an Adventure!  Those of us who needed allergy meds were loaded up and ready to go!

We went to our favorite park, hiked through the woods, and took in the wonder of God's changing seasons.

I believe that boys need plenty of outside time exploring, playing, and just being kids.  I don't want to rush my children through childhood.

The boys exploring some moss on a fallen tree.

                                              Throwing rocks into the creek.

                                              Building a dam...

He worked really hard on his dam.

Throwing more rocks off a bridge.

On our journey along the trail Big D found a large rock and turned it over.  We ended up disturbing an ant colony, and stood for a while watching the ants scurrying about trying to get their house in order.  I love times like this, when life slows down for the moment.

As I watched the ants the verse  Proverbs 6:6  came to mind... Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her  ways and be wise.   My oldest son loves this verse!  He likes the word sluggard!  I had my oldest recite this verse for me while he watched the ants work hard.

These next 3 pictures were all taken in the same spot along the trail,  this is where we would regularly stop for our snack.
It's fun to see the changing scenery for the 3 different seasons.

                                  Fall 2011
                                  Winter 2011
                                  Spring 2012

Some pretty flowers we found along the path...

The end of our journey.  But never the end of exploring, learning and having fun!
